Extreme70 – what does it mean?

The Extreme70 model is currently the most practical method for training software developers. Having worked as a developer in the industry for over 25 years, I know that software development is not something you learn from elaborate presentations and complex theories, but only “through the keyboard”.

How did the Extreme70 model start?

As a development manager for a number of companies, I sometimes have to recruit graduates of vocational software development courses. I’m a great believer in “novices” who come with plenty of motivation and a sparkle in their eyes. So, what’s the problem?

Most graduates of vocational colleges are not sufficiently prepared for the heavy demands of daily work. That doesn’t mean they had a bad instructor; it does mean that they lack proficiency, because they did not delve deeply enough into advanced subjects and did not write enough code to gain the experience required to cope with the daily challenges.

Working with these graduates made me realize that instead of “bringing the teaching to the industry”, we should “bring the industry to the teaching.”

That’s how the Extreme70 model was born.
